Cloning Amanita muscaria

• The Amanita muscaria in vitro experiments started with cloning mycelium from a young fresh specimen. The pictures below show a time frame of 10 months. As expected the mycelium of this ectomycorrhiza species acts somewhat different than mycelium of saprophyte mushroom species. Each picture shows the date on which it was taken. This way one can follow the progress precisely. On the list below one can find the comments to one or more pictures with their corresponding numbers.

  • 05: One petri has bacteria contamination.
  • 10+11: agar-malt liquid
  • 12: White rice
  • 17: Weird bat-cristal-holograms on the surface op the petri around the mycelium.
  • 30+31: Involved two species of grapes in the experiment according to the recipe used by the
  ‚Sacred Mushroom Church of Switzerland‘ some years ago. Studying the pictures of their
  ‚mushroom mycelium cultures‘ they turned out to be nothing more than cultures of Rhizopus
  stolonifer, the common Black bread mold. Luckely, as far as i know, nobody was injured.
  • 34: As confirmed again later agar-malt liquid cultures are a perfect method for culturing or
  preserving live mycelium of Amanita muscaria
  • 36: the darker grains are rye grains, the ones below are pearl barley.
  • 40: AM 01 starts growing again after a rest of two months. This was something totally different
  compared to mycelium of the known saprophytic mushroom species.
